god this is so advanced
The image is of a hand drawn person lying in a photograph of a bed. A second hand-drawn person is standing beside the bed, with their hands on their knees, bending over to speak to the person in the bed. It is captioned with the following dialogue:
Nurse: Sir you SHORT
Me: oh boy I can’t TALK TO PEOPLE
Nurse: CorrectThis is a combination of two memes.
The first involves a person waking up in a hospital. The nurse tells the person they have been in a coma, and the person optimistically announces their plan to do something that has since become unavailable. For example, the day after Vine was shut down, this meme featured the nurse telling the patient, “Sir you’ve been in a coma for three days,” and the patient answered, “Oh boy I can’t wait to check Vine.” This meme has become increasingly deconstructed, of course, to the point where the conversation often makes no sense or has no punchline. My favorite was one where the nurse said, “Sir you’ve been asleep since last night,” and the patient said, “Oh good morning.”
The second is a comic a person drew called “how to talk to short people.” The first panel has a short person and a tall person standing and having a conversation. This is labeled, “yes,” with a checkmark. In the second panel, the tall person has their hands on their knees and is hunched over and talking to the short person like they are a small child. This is labeled “leave,” with an X mark. There are some reposts of the art – the art was saved, somewhat altered, and then posted by someone else to make it seem like they created it – where the labels are “incorrect” and “correct,” as is seen in the above image. People like to cut parts of the meme out and rearrange them.
