so i was on my uni’s herbarium website and i saw they were doing a project on something called a ‘moonwort’. ive heard about liverworts, hornworts, and quillworts, and they all seem super wild, so i looked it up and

excuse me

apparently its a species of fern that grows from a tuber and reappears each year and oh my god…..its so cute…..its just so fucking cute

there are a few different species, but the common species is called Botrychium lunaria and they live in swamps……im obsessed lads

@chase-prairie i am not disappointed

@botanyshitposts

For your delectation and consideration, the dehisced sporophyll of a Botrychium at one of my university’s lawns, that also happen to be infested with Spiranthes and Ophioglossum, implying it to be an unusually fungi-rich lawn,

There’s also a small colony of female Marchantia, which is neat.

if you see Marchantia in any form in the wild you are blessed automatically

The thing about being LGBT+ is, at some point in your childhood, no matter how accepting your parents are, at some point, you have to question: “do they love me unconditionally?” And then you have to plan for the possibility hat the answer is no. And that fucks you up. Straight cis people never have to question that.
